About Us
Our NALSA chapter was re-established in 2018 with the purpose of building community and supporting Native and Indigenous law students at Berkeley Law. To fulfill that mission, Berkeley NALSA hosts academic, professional, and social programming for members and the Berkeley Law community at large. Some standout activities that we do as a group include monthly general body meetings, annual participation in the Indigenous Peoples Day Sunrise Ceremony at Alcatraz, attendance at various conferences throughout the year, and more. We also work closely with Berkeley Law's Center for Indigenous Law and Justice to create community and support students.

UC Berkeley sits on the territory of xučyun (Huichin), the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo speaking Ohlone people, the successors of the sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe and other familial descendants of the Verona Band.
We recognize that every member of the Berkeley community has, and continues to benefit from, the use and occupation of this land, since the institution’s founding in 1868.
